Mark S Haines
President and Majority Owner
Mark is a Vietnam-Era Service Disabled Veteran. He has been involved in the Environmental Industry for 35 years, including 33 years teaching environmental classes nationwide. Mark started Tropical Environmental in 2004 so that he could apply his knowledge and experience in the environmental industry to a company of his own. For 7 years, Mark worked as the company's only full-time employee building Tropical from the ground up. In 2011, Mark brought his son, Steven, on-board. Mark and Steven have worked together to grow the company steadily over the past 11 years.

Steven began working with his father, Mark, after his high school graduation in 2011. Learning under Mark's guidance over the past 11 years has provided Steven unmatched on-the-job training. Steven has dedicated his career to learning from Mark and working to grow and improve the company started by his father in 2004. His commitment was acknowledged in 2016 when Mark awarded Steven with the title of Vice President. Then again in 2020, when Mark decided to make Steven the co-owner of Tropical Environmental after 9 years of service to the company. Steven cherishes the opportunity to be able to work with his dad and wife, together building a company that hopes to be around for many years-to-come!
Russtin Haines
Office Manager
Russtin's career at Tropical Environmental began in 2016. From day one, Russtin has been an integral part of Tropical's day-to-day operations. Her attention to detail, time management skills, personnel management skills, customer service, and ability to be a self-starter, shine through daily with her performance at the company. As the office manager of our small company, Russtin is tasked with many jobs. Without fail or complaint, she has gladly accepted any task thrown her way. Tropical is lucky to have her! (and Steven is even luckier to be able to call her his wife!!)
James L. Thompson
Project Manager
Tropical's newest hire, James, joined Tropical in 2022. James has been in the asbestos industry for 30 years. Mark and James have known each other professionally for over 20 years. James has worked as an asbestos abatement laborer and consultant, both as an employee and as a business owner, giving him knowledge that others may lack being on one side of the fence or the other. Tropical was thrilled at the opportunity to bring James on-board. We know that he will provide us with top-quality work and effort. Above all-else, he is a genuinely good person who will be an amazing representative of Tropical!
